Vegan firefighter's first day sees her battle blaze involving 40,000 pounds of steak
A Missouri firefighter had an unforgettable first day on the job when a tractor-trailer carrying 40,000 pounds of ribeye steaks caught fire on eastbound Route 174.
The Doolittle Rural Fire Protection District said probationary firefighter Jenna Ulrich fought the blaze alongside her father, firefighter Glenn Ulrich. “Jenna is on the hose line,” the department noted.
Ulrich is the only vegan in the department, and officials remarked on the irony of her first fire involving such a massive haul of meat. No injuries were reported, but the steaks were declared a total loss.
