Vocational educational cooperation between China and Pakistan has been empowering the bilateral relations and helping turn the vision of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) -- building mutual respect between nations through people-to-people exchanges -- into reality. In Tianjin, a pioneering international vocational education hub, Pakistani students train at a Luban Workshop, named for the legendary ancient Chinese craftsman and inventor Lu Ban. Muhammad Umar, one of the students, said he came to China for exposure to cutting-edge technologies and better job prospects. The workshop's training model can greatly enhance their career competitiveness. According to Abdul Rehman, a fellow Pakistani student, training at the Luban Workshop could double his earnings back home compared with the average local worker. China has been promoting vocational education cooperation through multilateral platforms like the SCO to teach foreign trainees advanced skills, rather than mechanically exporting China's model. As of November 2024, more than 34 Luban Workshops had been established in 30 countries and regions since the first school opened in Thailand in 2016.
