2 Dead In Explosion At Firecracker Factory Inside House In Lucknow
A powerful explosion ripped through an illegal firecracker factory in Lucknow’s Gudamba area on Sunday, killing two members of a family and leaving several others feared trapped under the debris.Lucknow Police Commissioner Amrendra Singh Sengar told media that only two have died in the incident till now.
The deceased have been identified as firecracker trader Alam, his wife, who died in the blast and their two sons are critical along with three others. The explosion was so intense that it blew apart the factory walls, reducing the premises to rubble.Teams of police, fire brigade, and disaster response units rushed to the spot.
Six fire tenders and multiple ambulances have been deployed as rescue operations continue to clear the debris.Preliminary investigations suggest the blast was triggered by gunpowder stored in the illegal unit.
However, police have not ruled out the possibility of a cylinder explosion. The factory’s ownership, licensing status, and source of explosives are now under probe.
Lucknow DM G Vishak who reached the spot said that, "We are closely monitoring the situation. As soon as the incident was reported in the police station area, the local police team, along with the fire department and emergency response teams, immediately reached the spot. A total of five people were involved, out of which two died while three others have also sustained injuries," he said.
DM said the priority is to ensure the best possible medical treatment for the injured. Footage Sources Lucknow Fire brigade offical
