US: Evacuation Orders Expand As 6-5 Fire Threatens Tuolumne County

United States - September 02, 2025 The Tuolumne County Sheriff issued new evacuation orders and warnings on September 2, 2025, as the 6-5 Fire continued to spread. The Fire Information Line was listed as 209-533-5151. Mandatory evacuations were declared for Six Bit Ranch Road, Six Bit Gulch Road, all of Red Hill Road, J59 to Old Don Pedro Road, the entire town of Chinese Camp, Don Pedro Dam Road, Old Don Pedro Dam Road, Menkee Hess Road, both sides of Highway 120 from Chinese Camp to the Highway 120 Bridge, all roads east of Highway 108 from J59 to Highway 49, Shawmut Road, Rojo, and Chinese Camp Town north of Highway 120. Evacuation warnings covered areas and roads from Bell Mooney and Jacksonville Road west to Highway 49, and from Highway 108 south to Old Jacksonville Road. Authorities urged residents, “If you live in the area and do not feel safe, please leave, do not wait to be told to evacuate.” An evacuation center was opened at the Sonora Senior Center, 540 Greenley Road, Sonora, California 95370. Small pets were permitted, and animal control officers were present to assist. For larger animals, an evacuation site was established at the Motherlode Fairgrounds, 220 Southgate Drive, Sonora.
