A 21-strong family travelled 3,000 miles from Nigeria to the Isle of Man for a three day summer break - after seeing the island on Tiktok.

Mum Ugochi Onyenorah, 42, travelled to the self-governing island with her 19-year-old son and 19 other relatives spanning two generations for three nights last month.

The trip came about after 19-year-old Chibuike Okonkwo saw videos of the island on TikTok and shared them with the family.

Mum Ugochi said: "Our 19 year old son found videos of the island on TikTok and was amazed by how stunning it looked. "

"He showed us on our group forum, and everyone loved it. "

"The videos inspired us to book the trip."

"We loved the scenery, the fresh air, and the beaches. The friendliness and politeness of people in British culture really stood out."

"It was our first time visiting the British Isles, which made it extra special."

"We tried fish and chips, some local dishes, and traditional English breakfasts. "

"It was nice to taste something different."

"We really enjoyed the trams and heritage railways, they were fun, especially for the kids, and felt unique compared to back home."

"We missed our usual spicy home food, but that's part of travelling and experiencing something new." "

The family, spanning ages from 23 months to 48 years, travelled together in honour of their late mother and grandmother, who passed away 20 years ago.

During their trip they visited famous sites including Peel Beach, the Laxey Wheel, Douglas Promeande, and the island's heritage Manx Electric Railway.

Ugochi added: "What we loved most besides the scenery were the people. Everywhere we went, the locals were so friendly, warm, and welcoming. "

"It felt like the island embraced us, which meant a lot because of the purpose of our trip."

"If anything, three nights wasn't enough,we all felt we had only just scratched the surface. We definitely plan to come back someday."

"As we packed our bags to leave, our 13-year-old daughter, Zimuzo, stood gazing out at Douglas beach through the window, like it was the end of a film. "

"Then, with all the seriousness, she sighed and said: ‘Mum, I would love to retire here'."
