On 5 September near the car park of Xiya Home Plaza in Xinyang, Henan, part of a wall collapsed after continuous rainfall, crushing a Maybach sedan parked in a bay.

The car’s left-side windows and body were damaged. Fortunately, the owner, who was inside the vehicle at the time, was unharmed. Police have been notified.

The owner, Mr Xu, said the car was worth 1.5 million yuan. As the heavy rain had severely limited visibility, he had temporarily parked in the bay to take shelter when the wall suddenly gave way. The vehicle is currently at a dealership awaiting assessment, and the exact cost of damage has not yet been determined.

It was later confirmed that the collapsed wall was part of the original municipal structure within the rented car park area, not newly built by the car park management. A person in charge stated that maintenance responsibility did not lie with them, but they are cooperating with the police investigation.
