Parrot inspects motorway traffic camera in Brazil
This is the amusing moment a parrot was seen inspecting a motorway traffic camera in Brazil.
CCTV footage shows the cheeky green bird perching on the post in front of the device over BR-381 highway in Carmo da Cachoeira, Minas Gerais.
The parakeet poked its head against the glass as if trying to climb inside, before pecking at the lens on August 28.
The curious bird even briefly blocked the entire view with its feathers.
Local media reported that this was not the first time Arteris Fernao Dias, the concessionaire managing the highway, recorded such antics.
Experts said that birds, particularly parrots and corvids, are highly intelligent and may perceive their reflection in glass or camera lenses as another bird.
Studies on mirror self-recognition in birds reveal that they carefully investigate reflective surfaces, sometimes attempting to interact with or challenge the 'intruder' they see.
