Tech CEO hurls flower pot at worker in office dispute
A tech CEO was seen hurling a flower pot at his employee during an office argument.
ShiftDelete company owner Hakki Alkan walked over to the desk of worker Samet Jankovic during their argument before grabbing the plant and throwing it at the worker in Istanbul on August 29.
CCTV footage showed Hakki furiously pulling one of the ornamentals and hurling it at Samet, who was hit in the face.
Samet cowered to shield himself after the attack before slamming shut his laptop and leaving.
Hakki later apologised, admitting he had lost his temper but claiming Samet was uninjured. However, Samet obtained a medical report and filed a complaint with the authorities.
In a statement, Hakki said he had handed over the CCTV footage to authorities and would work to prevent such incidents from happening again.
Hakki claimed Samet's lawyer demanded TRY 5.5 million (GBP 100,000) in compensation. He said he offered to pay severance but refused to pay the amount requested.
Despite exchanging apologies online, both men continued to release videos and posts about the case.
The prosecutor's office is now reviewing their statements along with the security camera footage, and a full investigation is expected to follow.
