The fire broke out on the 1500 block of Central Avenue Northeast and caused several buildings to collapse. Reaper wrote: "MASSIVE FIRE NORTHEAST MINNEAPOLIS CURRENTLY HAPPENING RIGHT NOW." The Minneapolis Fire Department encountered major difficulties reaching the scene because of blocked access points, including discarded tires, locked gates, and a railway bridge. Fire crews also faced problems with low water pressure from some hydrants while battling the flames. Officials confirmed that no injuries were reported, but the destruction was extensive.
