China: 25th China International Fair for Investment and Trade opens
Storyline: 25th China International Fair for Investment and Trade opens [Voice_over] Chinese President Xi Jinping and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer sent congratulatory letters, marking the twenty-fifth anniversary of the China International Fair for Investment and Trade and stressing the importance of inclusive globalisation as well as investment. The event has attracted participants from around 120 countries and regions, including government agencies, chambers of commerce and multinational companies. [Sound_bite] He Lifeng, Chinese Vice Premier: "China is pushing high-quality growth and new productive forces. With stronger innovation and wider opening-up, the country promises more opportunities and a better business environment for foreign companies." [Voice_over] The United Kingdom, as Guest Country of Honour, has sent its largest-ever delegation, comprising more than 100 companies. The UK aims to strengthen bilateral ties and promote its role as a key partner of China in Europe. [Sound_bite] Peter Wilson, British Ambassador to China: "Our prime minister says it's a pleasure to extend my support for the 2025 China international fair for investment and trade. The participation of the United Kingdom as country of honor strengthens our trade and investment with China, as well as providing a platform for wider engagement." [Voice_over] China once again takes center stage as a major hub for global investment. During the event, China’s Ministry of Commerce released its first Outward Direct Investment Index, outlining key trends and future potential. [Sound_bite] Yao Danbo, Secretary General, China International Contractors Association: "It is the first time China has released such an index. In the first half of the year, the country’s outward investment index stood at 142, showing high activity, with strong performance in manufacturing, wholesale and retail, mining and logistics services." [Voice_over] The event highlights three sections — "Invest in China," "Chinese Investment," and "International Investment." The goal is to better connect investors with projects and industry leaders.
