Storyline: Wednesday's Israeli airstrike on a multi-story residential building in west of Gaza City that killed at least 17 people has left many already displaced Palestinians struggling to find a safe heaven. The Taiba tower was surrounded by thousands of the displaced people's tents. Those people, who are fleeing from the bombing areas in the north and east Gaza Strip, are still searching for a new shelter, a new place, as the Israeli army is continuing its deadly bombardment on the enclave, despite international appeals for a ceasefire. This incident is part of a broader pattern of strikes on high-rise structures throughout Gaza, many of which have sheltered displaced families. Israel alleges Hamas has installed surveillance cameras on the buildings to monitor Israeli troop movements. Residents were given less than an hour's evacuation warning ahead of the strike. "My tent was right next to this destroyed tower. I received my tent from charitable donations, and now everything is gone. As you can see, I'm left in the street without shelter. My husband is sick, and we don't have the money to go south," said Majodoline Nabhan, a displaced Palestinian living near the tower. "I was displaced from my neighborhood. We lived here with my children and now it becomes rubble. When they threatened to bomb the area, we all fled. All our belongings and my children's clothes are gone. We are left with nothing," said UM al-Noor, a displaced Palestinian whose tent was leveled by Wednesday's strike. Palestinians forced to evacuate say nowhere is safe in Gaza. "My tent has been torn apart, what am I supposed to do now? I want to move south, but the south is being bombed too. On top of that, our situation doesn't allow us to relocate there because we don't have the money. We hope that all Arab countries will stand with us," said Alfet al-Jamal, another displaced Palestinian living near the tower. Israel's assault has killed more than 64,000 Palestinian people since the conflict between Hamas and Israel erupted on October 7, 2023, according to Gaza health authorities. The relentless Israeli bombardments have reduced much of the enclave to rubble and pushed the population toward famine. Shotlist: Gaza City, Gaza Strip - Sept 10, 2025: 1.
