New York, United States - September 10, 2025 This morning, Extinction Rebellion NYC staged a protest inside Paramount Global’s headquarters, home to CBS News, denouncing the network’s alignment with Trump and the far-right agenda outlined in Project 2025. Nine activists locked arms in front of Paramount’s lobby escalators, holding a massive “REBEL OR DIE” banner and setting off smoke flares while chanting, “CBS sells lies — people die!” The protest coincides with CBS executives preparing to sell the network to billionaire Larry Ellison, a Trump ally and Oracle co-founder. Activists warn this deal could consolidate U.S. media under far-right influence, normalize propaganda, and suppress dissent. CBS has been criticized for platforming fossil fuel lobbyists, Trump surrogates, and canceling popular shows, signaling cooperation with the Trump administration’s conservative agenda. Project 2025 outlines plans to seize federal agencies, roll back climate protections, and weaponize state power, relying on compliant media. Extinction Rebellion emphasizes that urgent action is needed to address the climate and ecological emergency. “To rebel is to choose life. It is to reject a system that profits from destruction and to demand the immediate action that governments and corporations have failed to deliver,” the group stated. Activists spoke out against corporate inaction: “Mark Zuckerberg and the class of CEOs he belongs to know full well the impacts their businesses have on our planet…We are hoping to force the first option, for life on Earth,” said Greg Schwedock. Other spokespeople highlighted the moral and economic consequences of ignoring the climate crisis. “The math is clear. There is no wealth to be preserved, no markets to expand, and no profits to be had on a planet that’s burning, drowning, and collapsing,” said Miles Grant.
