Climate activists attack Meta offices over AI cost the the environment
Climate activists were seen vandalising the walls of Meta's office.
Footage shows members of Extinction Rebellion NYC spraying green chalk on the glass walls of Moynihan Hall at Penn Station on July 25.
Messages such as ‘Zuck Loves Trump,' ‘Meta Makes Kings,' and ‘Zuck F**** Climate' were written during the protest.
One activist also poured water to symbolise AI's high resource consumption while chanting ‘Dump Trump, Meta.'
Police arrested both demonstrators shortly after.
Greg Schwedock, one of the activists, said: 'Mark Zuckerberg and the class of CEO's he belongs to know full well the impacts their businesses have on our planet.
'Why else would he have built a bunker island in the middle of the ocean? They will pay the price of change today socially, or tomorrow existentially. We are hoping to force the first option, for life on Earth.'
Extinction Rebellion accuses Meta of worsening the climate crisis through 'energy-hungry AI systems and failing to protect democratic institutions'.
The group pointed to Zuckerberg's presence at Trump's 2025 inauguration and a rollback of fact-checking policies as evidence of political alignment.
Extinction Rebellion spokesperson Devin Lilly said: 'Is Mark Zuckerberg, one of the richest people on the planet, really more afraid of Trump than of the collapse of the world his kids will inherit? When will he choose to stand for the future instead of his bottom line?'
Other group members condemned tech giants for prioritising profit while the climate emergency intensifies.
Extinction Rebellion NYC said it is urging the public to boycott companies like Meta, warning that unchecked AI expansion and fossil fuel dependency endanger the future.
Followers of the climate agenda have resorted to increasingly aggressive public attacks in recent years - often using violence and intimidation to cause chaos on roads, at events and in art galleries.
The Oxford Languages dictionary defines a terrorist as 'a person who uses unlawful violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims'.
