The individual is now receiving medical care and other necessary support. Lithuanian officials credited the release to the persistent work of diplomats and cooperation with U.S. counterparts.

Lithuanian authorities stressed their commitment to standing by citizens, particularly those caught in authoritarian regimes. Meanwhile, it was reported that approximately 1,200 political prisoners remain in Belarus.
