ANTALYA, TÜRKİYE - SEP. 19: Turkish firefighters have been battling a forest fire in Alanya district of southern Antalya from the air and on the ground, on Friday (Sep. 19).
A fire broke out in a forest area in Aliefendi neighborhood at around in the evening and quickly spread near to residential areas.
Teams from the Forest Management Directorate, the fire department, and AFAD were dispatched to the area to extinguish the fire.
“The fire, which started in the Aliefendi neighborhood, has spread to Ispatli and Kargicak neighborhoods,” said Alanya District Governor Sakir Oner Ozturk adding firefighting efforts have been ongoing since last night.
As a precautionary measure, electricity was cut off in the region, and homes in residential areas threatened by the flames were evacuated, Ozturk noted.
