Japanese Princess Akiko tours archaeological institutions in Türkiye
- SANLIURFA, TÜRKİYE — SEPT. 20, 2025: Japanese Princess Akiko of Mikasa visited Sanliurfa Archaeological Museum and an excavation research center in southeastern Türkiye on Saturday, Sept. 20.
During her visit, Princess Akiko examined Neolithic-era artifacts and was briefed by museum director Celal Uludag. She later met with the Japanese team set to take part in upcoming excavation efforts in the Ayanlar Hoyuk area.
A necklace worn by the princess drew attention. It was found to be originally a gift from a villager to her grandmother during her visit to Kaman-Kalehöyük excavation, Princess Yuriko of Mikasa, who later passed it down to her.
