Hungry bear breaks into holiday cabin and raid kitchen
A very curious bear gave a family a terrifying surprise after breaking into their holiday cabin.
Ashley Mynster, 36, was staying with her family and a couple of her daughter's friends in a mountainside rental in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on August 7, 2025, when the close encounter happened.
The mum of two realized something was wrong when she got up from the couch and suddenly noticed they weren't alone inside the cabin.
"I turned around and started to get up off the couch and it was standing right behind us in the kitchen," Ashley said."
The hungry black bear first inspected the trash can before it began rummaging through food and snacks.
Surprisingly, the bear didn't damage much inside before leaving on its own.
It walked out through the open door, stopped for a drink from the hot tub and then moved to the corner of the porch.
That gave Ashley's husband Christian Broderdorp, 26, just enough time to shut the door.
When the bear realized it couldn't get back inside, it circled the porch before finally being scared off.
Ashley , from Whitesburg, Kentucky, said: "At first we were in shock. Then scared. Then calm"
"We knew the best thing at the time was to stay calm and put plans in place in case the bear started coming upstairs where we were."
