As the National Day holiday approaches, in Xidi Ancient Village, Yi County, Huangshan, Anhui, villagers have used nearly ten thousand ears of corn along with rice stalks and other crops to create a 50-metre-long “corn dragon.”

The dragon, a totem of the Chinese nation, is covered in golden corn “scales.” It coils in front of the village’s ancient archway, gleaming in the sunlight. The work serves as both a tribute to Chinese civilisation and agrarian culture, and as a symbol of autumn harvest and the country’s prosperity.

The dragon will remain on display throughout the National Day holiday (October 1–8), becoming one of the cultural and tourism highlights of Huangshan’s “super golden week.”
