227 East Centre Street, Mahanoy City, Pa
1 firefighter was transported for heat-related injuries while several others were treated at the scene.The fire is believed to of started to the rear of 223 or 225 East Centre Street according to Anthony Blackwell, Mahanoy City Fire Department administrative assistant and safety officer.The fire gutted 219 thru 227 East Centre with additional damage to 229 and 231 East Centre Street. Four of the homes are reported to be vacant.Upon arrival the first in crews found heavy fire on “C” side of 223 and 225 East Centre Street. It was also reported that an interior stairway collapsed during this incident. This address was familiar to the Department as someone intentionally lit a fire under a back porch last year.The amount of junk stored in one of the structures added in accessing the blaze.This incident was placed under control around 20:30 hrs.
