Heavy rain swept through Florida as the cold front moved in from the Atlantic.

Footage shows the downpour lashing buildings and cars driving through wet roads in Orlando on October 2.

Resident Deni Garcia said: 'Rainy morning in Orlando as onshore winds converge over east central Florida. Very typical for this time of year as easterly winds near back-door cold fronts pick up moisture from the still very warm Atlantic waters.'

Meteorologists explained that the rainfall was driven by easterly winds drawing moisture from the ocean, which is a common pattern during the season.

They added that the broader Atlantic environment is also shaping conditions, with Hurricane Imelda and the remnants of Humberto contributing to unstable weather.

Seasonal trade winds, which strengthen in winter, are further intensifying rainfall and storm activity across Florida.
