Festivalgoers were treated to a hearty pasta feast cooked by chefs and culinary students in the Philippines.

Sixteen varieties of the Italian delicacy, made using 2.4 tonnes of pasta, formed a giant centrepiece that was distributed to shoppers at the SM City Baguio Atrium in Benguet during the Giant Pasta Feast on October 2.

Footage captured by Isabel Valera shows teams from restaurants and culinary schools peeling off cling film from the massive triangular pans set up inside the mall.

The Hotel and Restaurant Association of Baguio (HRAB) organised the event to boost the city's reputation as a culinary and tourism hub.

The feast also marked the 18th Hotel and Restaurant Tourism (HRT) Month and the 16th National Food Showdown.

Anthony de Leon, HRAB president and general manager of Baguio Country Club, said: 'We want to help promote the city by giving tourists a variety of attractions to see.'

Local media reported that each tray contained at least 150 kilos of pasta, with costs ranging from 60,000 PHP to 80,000 PHP (about 762 GBP to 1,016 GBP) paid by participating hotels and restaurants.

The servings were expected to feed around 15,000 people.
