US, Los Angeles: Montrose Rain
Los Angeles, United States - October 14, 2025 10/14/2025 08:00 am GMT-0700 MONTROSE, Calif. – Citizens in Montrose took to the streets, both on foot and in vehicles, amidst heavy rain Tuesday morning. Multiple collisions occurred on the freeways, including an overturned Tacoma truck on the SR-2 North, just before the Verdugo Boulevard off-ramp. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from that incident. The rainfall was measured at over 1 inch per hour in the area. In response to the weather conditions, the National Weather Service issued a Flood Watch for areas near recent burn scars across several counties: San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Los Angeles. The impacted burn scars include Gifford, Madre, Lake, Apache, Mountain, Post, King, Canyon, Hughes, Hurst, Kenneth, Franklin, Palisades, Sunset, Lidia, Hawk, Eaton, and Bridge. The Flood Watch will remain in effect through Tuesday afternoon. The service has alerted residents that periods of heavy rainfall over these burn scars may lead to hazardous and damaging flooding, as well as debris flows. Areas with poor drainage and urban locations could also face risks, particularly at low-water crossings that may become submerged. Peak rainfall rates are expected to reach between 0.25 and 0.50 inches per hour, with some areas potentially experiencing rates as high as 0.80 inches per hour. Additionally, there is a 10 percent chance that rainfall rates might hit 1 inch per hour due to possible thunderstorms or heavy showers. The threat of thunderstorms may further elevate rainfall rates, potentially surpassing debris flow thresholds in burn scar areas.
