Storyline: The Palestinian death toll in the Gaza Strip has risen to 68,116, with 170,200 others injured since the conflict between Hamas and Israel erupted on Oct 7, 2023, Gaza's health authorities said in a statement on Saturday. In the past 48 hours, hospitals in Gaza have received 29 bodies and treated 21 injured Palestinians, the statement added. Under the Israel-Hamas ceasefire agreement, which took effect on Oct 10, the first phase of the ceasefire includes Israeli troop withdrawals from Gaza City, Rafah, Khan Younis, and the north, the exchange of hostages and prisoners, and the opening of five crossings for aid. Despite the ceasefire, Gaza health officials have recorded 27 Palestinian deaths and 143 injuries from Israeli attacks since Oct 11. In a separate statement issued the same day, Gaza's health authorities said 15 additional unidentified bodies from Israel were received, bringing the total number of bodies returned to 135.
