Egypt: Aid convoy enters Gaza through Kerem Shalom under cease-fire
SHOTLIST: EGYPT-GAZA BORDER (OCT. 19, 2025) (ANADOLU - ACCESS ALL) 1. CONVOY OF HUMANITARIAN AID TRUCKS AT KEREM SHALOM BORDER CROSSING 2. VARIOUS OF TRUCKS CARRYING AID SUPPLIES ENTERING GAZA THROUGH BORDER CROSSING EGYPT-GAZA BORDER - OCT. 19: Humanitarian aid trucks entered the Gaza Strip on Sunday, Oct. 19, through the southern Karem Abu Salem (Kerem Shalom) crossing under the cease-fire agreement between Israel and Hamas. Aid trucks carried tents, food parcels, and flour to assist the victims of Israel's 2-year-long war on Gaza. The UN World Food Program (WFP) warned last week that deliveries remain far below what is needed to meet the population's urgent needs. On Oct. 11-15, around 230 trucks carried about 2,800 tons of food supplies into Gaza, according to WFP spokesperson Abeer Etefa. "We're still below what we need, but we’re getting there," she said, noting the agency's daily average deliveries have reached about 560 tons since the ceasefire came into effect. The entry of the aid trucks began last Sunday, Oct. 12, after the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement took effect on Friday under US President Donald Trump’s plan to end a two-year Israeli war on the enclave. World powers and regional actors endorsed Trump's 20-point Gaza ceasefire plan during a summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt with implementation currently underway despite several recent violations by the Israeli army. In the plan's first phase, Hamas released 20 Israeli captives while Israel released nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners. Israeli troops have begun withdrawing from densely populated areas, and humanitarian aid has started arriving in the Gaza Strip. Later phases of the plan include demilitarizing Hamas, establishing a temporary technocratic governing mechanism, and deploying an International Stabilization Force to ensure border security. Over the past two years, the Israeli military has waged a war in Gaza, killing nearly 68,000 Palestinians—most of them women and children—and wounding nearly 170,000, according to local health authorities. Last month, a UN independent international commission of inquiry concluded that Israel is committing genocide in the Gaza Strip. The siege and blockade on aid have triggered a famine that has killed hundreds of Palestinians in recent months.
