This is the shocking moment a crazed cat bit its owner in an alarming, unprovoked attack.

Ciara May Cabigan was tidying up for the night when Yami, her Persian feline, suddenly assaulted her inside their living room in Laguna, the Philippines.

CCTV footage shows the one-year-old grey kitty meowing at the woman before biting her foot on October 15.

The visibly enraged cat can be seen kicking and clinging onto the legs of its keeper as she tries to grab the animal by the neck.

After managing to pull Yami away, Ciara immediately covered the cat with a sofa cover, but the unfazed creature continued to charge at her.

The frustrated owner then briefly managed to restrain the cat before running out of the room for safety.

Traces of blood from her legs can be seen smeared across the floor, with items scattered over the tiles.

Ciara said: ‘The same thing actually happened last month, she bit me before, and the wounds were classified as Category 3. I tried to understand her behaviour then, and that's when I decided that I would have her spayed next month. But unexpectedly, it happened again, and this time, it truly traumatised me.

‘I'm not exactly sure what caused it, but her veterinarian once mentioned that Yami might have smelled another cat nearby or was possibly looking for a mate. Because of that, we planned to have her spayed, but we were waiting until next month since she also had a scheduled vaccination, and both procedures couldn't be done at the same time.

‘For now, I have entrusted Yami to a kind-hearted person whom I know will take good care of her and love her. It was a very painful decision for me because Yami had been my daily companion. Most of the time, it was just the two of us at home. She was like my own child, so this whole experience has been doubly painful for me. I'm still in the process of healing from my injuries and the emotional trauma.

‘Since the incident, I haven't been able to go to work or continue my live selling. No one wanted this to happen, perhaps Yami was stressed or in heat, and she redirected that frustration towards me.'
