Storyline: Smart logistics boost efficiency in China's manufacturing supply chains [Voice_over] To keep their highly technical manufacturing plants operating smoothly, Chinese factories are partnering up with logistics firms for even more efficient production. At this car parts distribution center in northwest China’s Shaanxi Province, shuttles, elevators and robots are scheduled for use based on production line demands. This has helped achieve 100 percent accuracy in shelving, inventory management, batch tracking and picking, officials from the firm say. [Sound_bite] Ma Xiaolong, logistics manger, automobile manufacturer: "With the automated warehouse in use, labor costs have been cut by about 20 percent and warehouse space reduced by 30 percent." [Voice_over] From automobile plants to electronics parks, express delivery services are now deeply integrated into both upstream and downstream industrial supply chains, becoming a vital force in boosting efficiency. [Sound_bite] Liu Jiang, director, strategic planning department, Development and Research Center, State Post Bureau: "The postal and express delivery sector has strong connectivity and integration capacity. By building a nationwide and globally connected network, it helps deepen industrial cooperation, enhance circulation efficiency, and continuously reduce logistics costs." [Voice_over] So far China has developed more than 1,600 major logistics projects for advanced manufacturing industries, with each generating around 140,000 U.S. dollars in annual revenue.
