US: Last Year Shows Bronx Zoo Float At Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
United States - November 28, 2024 A video from last year captures the Bronx Zoo’s stunning “Wondrous World of Wildlife” float as it appeared in the 99th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, bringing the magic of wildlife to Manhattan’s holiday celebration. The float featured festive new lighting and showcased the zoo’s iconic Beaux-Arts architecture alongside lifelike depictions of animals from three global biomes — the Russian Boreal Forest, the African Savanna, and the African Rainforest. Among them were the Amur tiger, Grevy’s zebra, and Western Lowland gorilla. “The Bronx Zoo and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade are two great reasons to visit New York City for the holidays,” said Jim Breheny, Director of the Bronx Zoo and Executive Vice President of WCS Zoos & Aquarium. The Bronx Zoo, operated by the Wildlife Conservation Society, designed the float to highlight its worldwide conservation mission and invite families to celebrate nature during the holiday season. The appearance also promoted the Bronx Zoo’s annual Holiday Lights festival, featuring millions of glowing displays and more than 400 animal- and plant-shaped lanterns illuminating six themed trails. “From one fellow New York institution to another, we’re thrilled to welcome the Bronx Zoo back for the 99th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade,” said Jordan Dabby, producer of the parade. “This year these representations of beloved animals return once again to charm spectators and bring a touch of magic to the holiday season.” The 99th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade aired nationwide on NBC and streamed on Peacock from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. across all time zones.
