Authorities demolish Bedouin outpost in Israel

Israeli authorities have demolished the Segev Shalom outpost in the Negev, citing illegal construction. The outpost was home to members of Israel’s Bedouin community of African heritage, including several veterans and current members of the Israeli security services.

According to residents, the demolition left numerous families among them women and children without shelter. One resident described the operation as sudden and devastating, claiming that no alternative housing arrangements were provided.

A young boy at the site alleged that the outpost was cleared to make way for the resettlement of Jewish residents. However, another community member, who identified himself as a former security service officer, rejected that claim. He asserted instead that the demolition was carried out to level the land for future development, adding that residents would not receive compensation.

When contacted for comment, the local municipality redirected inquiries and requested that journalists return in fifteen days for clarification.
