VARIOUS OF OFFICIALS IN STORAGEGAZA, PALESTINE - OCTOBER 23: The United Nations World Food Program (WFP) distributed food parcels to displaced Palestinians in Gaza City months later on Thursday, after the Israeli army allowed aid trucks to pass through border crossings following the ceasefire. Ahmad Fayyaz al-Ashkar, a Palestinian who received a food parcel distributed in the central Gaza Strip, said the food parcel he received would only last his family for two or three days, adding that living conditions had become extremely difficult and that the border crossings needed to be fully opened. Hundreds of families in the region are struggling to survive under difficult humanitarian conditions due to serious shortages of food, water, and basic services. Gaza’s Health Ministry said at least 271 people, including 112 children, died of starvation and malnutrition in the Gaza Strip since October 2023. The UN agency for Palestinian refugees said Friday that famine in Gaza, deliberately created by the Israeli government, is confirmed, after also being formally confirmed by the UN-backed global hunger monitoring system IPC. Israel has killed nearly 62,300 Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave, which is facing famine. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
