That morning, the air felt humid and muggy. The rainy season had just ended, and mosquito and fly populations were high. Mr. Arif, as usual, began his morning inspection. When he arrived at Mentega's pen, he noticed something unusual.

At 15:00 a.m., Mentega seemed reluctant to get up. She was still lying on the floor of her pen, even though she was usually already lining up in front of the feeder. Mr. Arif tried to wake her, but Mentega only lifted her head lazily. Her appetite had completely disappeared—her favorite elephant grass was untouched, and her concentrate was still intact.

At 15:30 AM, Dr. Andre arrived. She immediately performed a physical examination.

Body temperature: 41.5°C (high fever). Normal for cattle is 38-39°C.
