Police in Florida have unveiled the nation's first self-driving police car. The futuristic 'RoboCop' vehicle is equipped with high-tech features like a drone-launching system and AI-powered patrol capabilities. Built by Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office and the Policing Lab, the Police Unmanned Ground Vehicle (PUG) is designed to change law enforcement. It can patrol preset routes, scan license plates, and share info through touchscreen windows. It can even guide citizens during emergencies like hurricanes. It's not built for high-speed chases — but it's perfect for regular patrols and data collection. AI handles routine work so deputies can focus on real policing. The program will run for a year and evaluate the PUG's ability to improve response times, officer safety, and public trust.
