Las Vegas, United States - August 18, 2025 Aerial footage released this week shows Las Vegas police using a grappler to apprehend a carjacking suspect on Aug. 18. Vincent Farmer, 41, was accused of taking his ex-girlfriend’s car after pushing her out of the vehicle. Police discovered he also had an outstanding Nye County warrant for attempted murder. Officers deployed the grappler—a device disguised as a bull bar that launches netting around a car’s rear tire and axle—on U.S. 95 north of Kyle Canyon Road to bring Farmer’s vehicle to a controlled stop. “As you'll see in the video, the tool allowed our officers to bring this dangerous situation to a successful and peaceful resolution,” police wrote on social media. The grappler has been used by Las Vegas police before, but the device drew renewed attention after a recent incident in Michigan where its deployment ripped the rear axle off a stolen vehicle. Farmer remains in the Clark County Detention Center, facing charges including robbery, grand larceny of a motor vehicle, domestic battery, battery on a protected person, and drug possession, in addition to the Nye County warrant.
