The 32nd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' meeting, held in Gyeongju in the Republic of Korea on Friday and Saturday, has put emphasis on three key priorities -- connect, innovate and prosper. Guided by the theme "Building a Sustainable Tomorrow," this year's APEC agenda aimed to advance regional connectivity, spur innovation-driven growth, and create a more resilient future for the Asia-Pacific. Last year, APEC released a practice report on how technology empowers low carbon action. It outlined key challenges to sustainable transition for five sectors, comprised of electricity and heat generation, transport, buildings, industry, and individual actions. The report explained how technological advancements have helped tackle the challenges, such as expanding renewable energy, enhancing infrastructure, and fostering behavioral change. APEC has also been committed to promoting digitalization, while implementing its roadmap for economic transition and its statement to advance free trade. These efforts largely strengthened regional cooperation in digital economy. The forum has been making efforts to prevent and reduce food loss and waste, as well as refine coordination among member economies in the agricultural supervision process.
