Themed "Engaging Past Wisdom", an exhibition at the Hong Kong Museum of Art is showcasing over 400 ancient Chinese artifacts and paintings from the collections of the Min Chiu Society, drawing crowds to appreciate the beauty of Chinese art. Jointly presented by the Hong Kong Museum of Art and the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, this exhibition was held to celebrate the 65th founding anniversary of the Min Chiu Society and will be on view from late August to next January. The Min Chiu Society, an art collecting organization in Hong Kong established in 1960, is composed of a group of highly knowledgeable local collectors and is internationally acclaimed for its rich collection of rare treasures. According to Maria Mok, director of the Hong Kong Museum of Art, the exhibition features a substantial number of precious artifacts across varied categories. To showcase them effectively, unique display methods have been especially designed, including interactive installations featuring holographic projection technology, offering visitors an immersive experience into Chinese arts. "Given the wide range of categories and extensive historical periods covered, a comparative approach was adopted. This allows visitors to encounter not just a conventional chronological display, but also to witness the dynamic interplay of different aesthetics of Chinese art," said Maria Mok. Visitors lingering among the exhibits expressed appreciation for the distinctive Chinese aesthetics -- different from Western art traditions -- and marveled at the profound history and culture embodied in the artifacts. "Hong Kong itself has done an excellent job in preserving our nation's cultural heritage. Moreover, as an international hub, it serves as a platform where Eastern and Western cultures meet, communicate, and interact," said a visitor.
