Couple jive all over the world to celebrate 60th birthday
A globe-trotting British couple have been turning heads as they JIVE their way around the world.
Diane and Steve Gee have danced beside 60 landmarks in over ten countries, including Machu Picchu, the Eiffel Tower and Christ the Redeemer.
They have also shown off their twinkle toes on a catamaran on the sea
and with sea lions and even penguins.
The fun-loving couple decided to strut their stuff on the world stage to celebrate Diana's 60th birthday.
The couple, from Burton Latimer, Northants., began their journey in Cyprus, where they now live, and have since jived in some truly unusual places.
Since July they have also danced in front of sea lions in Chile, on a submarine and in the Falklands surrounded by penguins.
They've also thrown shapes by Christ the Redeemer statue in Brazil, and by the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
Diane, a retired headteacher, said: "We've danced in Machu Picchu, we danced in the Falklands, then with sea lions in Chile."
"As the year progressed and we gained in confidence, we decided why don't we do this for charity. "
"We had 'Cold as ice' playing in the Falkland's while we danced, with two penguins watching. "
"I guess in the water in the sea lions was the most unusual and probably my favourite, then on a submarine in France."
"There were a few confused faces in the submarine, that's for sure. "
"We've danced on a catamaran and we didn't fall in. We danced on top of a hay bale which was fun - we were wearing crash helmets. "
"We've danced on a padel court whilst wearing a padel and we danced in a 3,500-year-old wine cave in Cyprus." "
The couple, who have one grown-up child, got hooked on jive after starting dance lessons in 2023.
Diane added: "It started when a friend was visiting me in Cyprus. We'd just started jive lessons eight months before that."
"I turned 60 this year and she said I should jive in 60 different locations. "
"Now we look at places and think, 'could we possibly jive there?' It's become quite a fun challenge. "
"We ask locals to take a video for us, and they're usually quite obliging. "
"Generally the people are very supportive, we'll often pass the phone over to film us."
"We did get some strange looks from people on a few occasions." "
The pair of hoping to raise thousands of pounds for Macmillan Cancer Support and Cyprus Alzheimer's Association.
Retired project manager Steve, 57, added: "Two of our parents died from Alzheimer's-related diseases and two from cancer-related diseases, so that's the reasoning behind it. "
"We're going over to south east Asia this year and we'll have a month worth of possibilities there."
"We're aiming for the Taj Mahal, Singapore, and hopefully the race track in Abu Dhabi." "
The couple head to Asia this week and hope to jive 10,000ft in the air on their plane.
