Storyline: The ongoing 30th United Nations climate change conference, commonly known as COP30, in Brazil comes at a critical moment and will help shape the global climate governance for the future, China's Minister of Ecology and Environment Huang Runqiu said on Monday. COP30 opened on Monday in Belem, Brazil, with the aim of putting the fight against climate change back in the center of international priorities. "Therefore, it (COP30) is facing the issue of global climate governance for the next decade or for the future. It is about what banner we will hold high, what direction we will set, and what path we will take. So, this is a very crucial moment," said Huang. The China Pavilion at COP30 is hosting various side-events throughout the conference to showcase China's efforts and achievements in addressing climate change. An exhibition on China's ecological civilization attracted many participants from various countries. Delegations from over 190 countries and regions across the world have registered to participate in the conference, which runs through Nov. 21, according to the COP30 presidency. COP, or Conference of the Parties, refers to a series of formal meetings where governments assess global efforts to advance the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, with the aim of limiting global warming increase to 1.5 degrees Celsius. This year also marks the 10th anniversary of the Paris Agreement and the year for submitting a new round of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), representing a crucial moment in global climate governance.
