KHAN YOUNIS, GAZA, PALESTINE - NOV. 13, 2025: Hearing-impaired children in Khan Younis have returned to their studies following a two-year break caused by Israeli attacks, as education resumed after a ceasefire agreement took effect on Oct. 10, allowing schools in the area to reopen.
Maha Al-Astal, director of the Special Education and Rehabilitation School run by the Palestinian Red Crescent, said: "Many of our students have suffered trauma, and their families have been deeply affected. When we return to classes, we try to combine education with light entertainment.” She added that the school is working with limited resources, as many educational tools were destroyed during the strikes.
The Gaza ceasefire agreement took effect Oct. 10, based on a 20-point plan put forward by US President Donald Trump. The ISF is a key component of the proposal, and would be composed of volunteer nations that would work to stabilize Gaza amid Israel's staged withdrawal.
Phase one of the ceasefire deal includes the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. It also envisages the rebuilding of Gaza and the establishment of a new governing mechanism without Hamas.
Since October 2023, Israel's genocidal war on Gaza has killed more than 69,000 victims and injured more than 170,600, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
