Strong winds whip through the area, making every movement and tactic more difficult. The images were shared from an overnight operation in Cantabria supporting forest fire extinction efforts in the Montes area. As noted in the post, “the strong wind has complicated the work of the crews.” Authorities in Cantabria have declared the highest alert level after a series of arson fires, with 20 forest fires recorded overnight and six still burning. Extreme heat and wind gusts reaching up to 110 km/h are worsening the situation. These wildfires form part of a wider pattern of fall surges in the region, where dry air and a lack of rain are creating ideal conditions for rapid fire spread.
