United States - November 18, 2025 Buena Park – Firefighters from the Orange County Fire Authority rescued an adult man stranded on a narrow ledge above a storm channel this morning after he was carried more than a mile downstream in fast-moving water. According to the fire authority, the man was able to pull himself out of the torrent and cling to the edge of the channel. A good Samaritan heard his cries for help and threw down a rope, helping keep him secure until emergency crews arrived, while also staying in a safe position. Firefighters, including swift water rescue teams that had been pre-positioned for the weather event, quickly set up a fire truck’s aerial ladder to reach the stranded man. Crews brought him to safety and transported him to a hospital in stable condition for further evaluation. The Orange County Fire Authority thanked Buena Park Police Department for assisting at the scene, as well as the citizen who stepped in to help without putting themselves in danger.
