Four-Alarm Fire Hits Mount Carmel A massive fire broke out in the 200 block of South Poplar Street in Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania, around 12:40 a.m. on November 24, 2025. The blaze was so intense that flames and smoke were visible from across town, prompting extra alarms and a tanker task force to be called in to help with water supply. Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshals were on the scene investigating the cause of the fire before an excavator was allowed to knock down some of the damaged structures. As of the latest update, Chief Williams stated that rumors of a propane tank explosion causing the fire are unconfirmed due to the extent of the damage. The fire marshals have also not issued a public comment on the matter.
