The latest achievements from the Zigong Aviation Industrial Park, an industrial base focused on producing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), in southwest China's Sichuan Province are showcased in AERO Asia 2025 in Zhuhai, highlighting breakthroughs in amphibious capabilities and multi-functional modules. Running from November 27–30, the biennial show, with the theme "A New Era: Explore More," has attracted the participation of more than 380 enterprises from 22 countries and regions across the world. China Media Group visited the Zigong Aviation Industrial Park to learn more about some new drone models exhibited at the air show. https://www.tengden.com/about.html#w_grid-1611816033601 Sichuan Tengden Sci-tech Innovation Company has introduced several of its new products. Founded in 2016, it is a leading enterprise in the research and development, manufacturing and application of intelligent aerial vehicles in China. It is also a state-level, specialized and innovative "small giant" enterprise. In March of this year, a newly-developed amphibious drone completed its first take-off and landing mission on a small river, expanding new application scenarios for amphibious drones. "Its speed can reach 200 kilometers per hour, ten times that of ordinary ships, which can travel at 10-20 kilometers per hour. It can be used for transporting supplies to some islands, especially for emergency relief. For example, it can reach destinations quickly when delivering medical supplies," said Lin Tao, the company's chief aircraft designer. A high-altitude unmanned helicopter, capable of both reconnaissance and strike mission, completed its first live-fire target test mission in July, and in this mission, it broke several launch boundaries. "Last time, we conducted a target test mission carrying two missiles, hitting both moving and stationary targets at an altitude of over 4,000 meters. Our next plan is to conduct a target test mission with multiple missiles at an altitude of over 6,000 meters, using satellite communication for beyond-visual-range control," said Cheng Sijia, a controller of the unmanned helicopter. Lin said that the company's Twin-tailed Scorpion series can change the payload and external attachments according to different mission requirements. The Twin-tailed Scorpion-D, which was exhibited for the first time this year, can change the modular airframe as needed. In this aviation industrial park, there are more than 60 drone research and development and manufacturing companies alike, forming a complete industrial chain development pattern including drone and general aircraft manufacturing, composite material airframe manufacturing, flight education, and maintenance training. "Since 2020, we have been providing support for more than 40,000 flights and more than 20,000 hours of flight operations annually. We aim to build a low-altitude city with significant influence nationwide, using the low-altitude economy to benefit people's livelihoods and empower development," said Qiu Xueqing, airport operations manager of Zigong Aviation Industrial Park.
