Bulgaria: Thousands against budget and tax increase
Sofia, Bulgaria - November 26, 2025 An estimated 20,000 demonstrators gathered in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia on 26.11.2025 to voice opposition to significant tax increases contained in the forthcoming national budget. The protest, orchestrated by the opposition coalition We Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria, highlights public apprehension regarding the budget's potential effects on citizens and the private sector, particularly the rise in social security burdens and the doubling of the dividend tax, as the country readies for its eurozone accession.
