POKROVSK, UKRAINE - DEC. 2, 2025: The Kremlin announced on Tuesday, Dec. 2 that Russian forces had taken control of Krasnoarmeysk (Pokrovsk) in the Donetsk region and Volchansk (Vovchansk) in the Kharkiv region.
According to the statement, President Vladimir Putin visited the headquarters of the Joint Military Group, where he was briefed on battlefield developments by Chief of General Staff Valery Gerasimov and other senior commanders.
Gerasimov reported the capture of Pokrovsk and Vovchansk, while Central Military Group commander Valery Solodchuk said Russian troops had secured the southern part of Dimitrov (Mirnograd). Eastern Military Group commander Andrey Ivanayev provided updates on operations in Zaporozhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk, noting advances toward the Gaychur River and efforts to take Gulyaypole.
The Kremlin added that Putin congratulated the commanders on their “successful actions” and instructed them to ensure adequate supplies for troops during the winter period.
