UNCAPTIONED: Trump Warns Indiana Republicans Ahead of High-Stakes Redistricting Vote
Trump Warns Indiana Republicans Ahead of High-Stakes Redistricting Vote. President Donald Trump is warning Indiana Republicans that he’ll support primary challengers if they refuse to approve a new congressional map designed to boost GOP control. In a late-night post, Trump targeted Indiana Senate leader Rodric Bray, accusing him of blocking efforts to secure more Republican seats ahead of the midterms. Trump said that any Republican who votes against the redistricting plan should expect a “MAGA primary” next spring, insisting he’ll do everything possible to protect the party’s majority - According to Politico. The move highlights how crucial the House map is to Trump’s agenda — especially if Democrats attempt to reclaim the chamber. The proposed map could give Republicans all nine of Indiana’s House seats, and top GOP figures — including Vice President JD Vance and House Speaker Mike Johnson — have personally pressured lawmakers. Conservative PACs have also poured in hundreds of thousands of dollars to sway public opinion, while some legislators have faced bomb threats and swatting attempts. Despite this, Bray and a sizable group of GOP senators are resisting the push. Their vote on Thursday could decide whether Indiana moves forward with mid-decade redistricting or becomes the only Republican-led state to reject Trump’s plan.
