Exclusive- Traveller’s dispute with village chief in Sierra Leone goes viral—Instagram clip hits 3.2M views
A global motorbike traveller from China has gone viral after claiming a village chief prevented him from leaving during a dispute over filming rights. The clip, posted by @spidermonkeybread, has now reached 3.2 million views.
Lin, who has been riding his motorbike around the world, said he travelled to Koidu — a region known for its diamond‑rich rivers — to film locals panning for stones. According to his account, the chief had initially agreed to allow filming but later demanded money, leading to a confrontation.
“The chief didn’t keep his promise and demanded money from me,” Lin said. “During our argument, the chief prevented me from leaving the village.”
The video shows the tense moment as Lin attempts to depart but is stopped, sparking widespread discussion online about travel safety, cultural misunderstandings, and the challenges faced by solo adventurers.
