In a press statement, South Sudan's Minister of Information and Technology, Ateny Wek Ateny, reported that the SAF's 90-22 Brigade carried out a "tactical retreat" from the conflict zone.

Upon crossing the border, the SAF units surrendered to the South Sudan People's Defense Forces (SSPDF) and handed over their infantry weapons.

Officials noted that tensions in the region remain high and they are monitoring developments closely.
