New York City woke up to its first significant snowfall of the season, transforming Central Park into a winter scene as fresh snow covered Bethesda Fountain and the Boathouse, captured in a serene clip by photographer @NYCkopp.

Snowfall was part of a broader winter storm that swept through the Tri-State area, with Central Park reporting around 2.7 inches of accumulation and heavier totals in parts of Staten Island and Queens. Some outer borough neighborhoods and nearby regions recorded even deeper snow.

The storm — the first measurable of the 2025–2026 winter — brought slippery conditions and prompted winter weather advisories from the National Weather Service across New York City into the afternoon hours.

Travel across the region was affected, with airports experiencing delays and ground stops due to icy runways and snow cleanup efforts.

Locals embraced the seasonal change, with runners and visitors taking in the quiet beauty of a snow-covered park that has featured in countless films and photos, while earlier forecasts suggested the potential for more snowfall and cold conditions as winter progresses.
