Aerial shot of shooting site Storyline In the wake of the devastating mass shooting at Sydney's Bondi Beach, the site of the attack has become a place of mourning and remembrance for the Bondi community. Thousands have gathered to pay their respects at the makeshift memorial, which has grown to include an abundance of flowers, heartfelt messages, and a hand-knitted tribute. The memorial has become a focal point for the grief-stricken community as they come together to support one another in the aftermath of the shooting. "I've been heartbreaking since this has happened, so I wanted to share my pain with everybody," said one mourner. The shooting left 16 people dead, including one of the gunmen and a 10-year old child called Matilda. "I sat down and crocheted 15 butterflies, one for each of the deceased. And the one in the middle is a brightly colored blue one and that's for Matilda," said a local resident. As of Wednesday afternoon, 20 injured people were still receiving care in Sydney hospitals, five of whom were in critical or critical but stable conditions The surviving shooting suspect has been charged with 59 offenses, Australian police said on Wednesday.
