Phoenix, United States - January 18, 2026 01/18/2026 01:15 am GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – According to information gathered at the scene, Phoenix police attempted to stop a vehicle at an undetermined location within their city. The vehicle refused to yield and fled from officers at a high rate of speed. Officers passed the vehicle description to the Phoenix police helicopter and did not pursue the vehicle. A short time later, officers located a collision involving the felony flight vehicle on the northbound I-17 near Glendale Avenue. Additional Phoenix police resources, troopers from the Arizona Department of Public Safety, and Phoenix firefighters responded to the scene. At least three people were transported to a local hospital via the Phoenix FD. It is unknown if the driver of the felony flight vehicle was hospitalized. The northbound I-17 was closed for several hours, between Bethany Home Road and Glendale Avenue, as a result of the crash. Phoenix PD is handling the collision investigation.
