SPRAY PAINT WRITING ON A WALL TEGUCIGALPA, HONDURAS - DEC. 17, 2025: Honduran President Xiomara Castro addressed supporters as dozens of members of the Liberty and Refoundation Party (Libre) entered the Presidential Palace in the capital Tegucigalpa on Dec. 17, following her call to action to protest what she described as interference by US President Donald Trump.

Castro said the alleged interference was linked to a pardon granted days before the Honduran elections to former president Juan Orlando Hernandez, who had been sentenced to 45 years in prison on drug trafficking-related charges and was extradited by Castro’s government three months after it took office.

Protesters also denounced what they described as an ongoing coup attempt, alleged electoral fraud, and called for the annulment of the presidential elections held on Nov. 30.
